The right gutter size for a commercial building depends on roof square footage, roof pitch, downspout placement, and how much rain and snow the roof collects. In New Hampshire, many commercial properties need 6-inch, 7-inch, or 8-inch gutters because standard residential sizes cannot handle heavy rain, snowmelt, or long roof runs.
Commercial gutters should be repaired when issues are limited to loose hangers, small leaks, or minor separation. Replacement is usually the better option when gutters are undersized, pulling away from the building, rusting, or repeatedly overflowing despite cleaning. If water damage or ice buildup keeps returning, the system is often the problem—not maintenance.
Most commercial buildings in New Hampshire need gutter cleaning at least twice per year, typically in late spring and late fall. Properties surrounded by trees, exposed to pine needles, or affected by snow and ice may require more frequent maintenance to prevent clogs, overflow, and slip hazards
Commercial gutter work should always be performed by a fully insured contractor. Commercial properties carry higher liability due to building height, access requirements, and public safety concerns. New England Gutter Systems is fully insured and backs its seamless gutter installations with a lifetime labor warranty, which protects property owners long after the work is complete.
The best gutters for commercial buildings in New Hampshire are commercial-grade seamless aluminum gutters or box gutters designed for high water volume and snow load. Properties with flat roofs or metal roofs often perform best with custom box gutters, while large sloped roofs typically need 7” or 8” K-style seamless gutters.
Commercial gutter systems fail faster in winter because snow load, ice buildup, and freeze-thaw cycles place extra stress on hangers, seams, and fasteners. When gutters are undersized or improperly supported, melting snow refreezes at exits, causes sagging, and pulls systems away from the building. Proper sizing, tighter hanger spacing, and controlled water exit points reduce winter failure risk.
Commercial property owners and managers call us for new gutter installations, replacements, and problem solving especially when their building needs more than a residential setup.
Our commercial projects are led by Dan Foote, who brings over 30 years of hands-on experience installing commercial and copper gutter systems throughout New England. This isn’t franchise labor it’s expert installation by a skilled team that understands New Hampshire buildings.
These roofs move a high volume of water all at once. That often means larger gutters, additional downspouts, and proper layout not standard 5" residential systems.
If water is overflowing or pooling around the foundation, the system is usually undersized for the roof area.
Poor drainage leads to refreezing water near entrances and pavement. A properly designed commercial system helps control where water exits the building.
Commercial gutters need tighter hanger spacing and stronger support to handle snow, ice, and heavy runoff.
Older sectional gutters commonly fail at the seams, leading to water damage and ongoing repairs.
Many clients install new commercial gutters before winter or during renovations to avoid future drainage and liability issues.
These issues are common on commercial buildings throughout New Hampshire and they’re exactly why commercial gutter systems must be designed, sized, and installed differently.
Commercial buildings need commercial grade gutter systems sized, supported, and installed for New England conditions.
